The Mourning Dove is also known as the Rain Dove. The Mourning Dove has a distinctive "woo-oo-oo-oo" sound that may evoke a feeling of grief or loss of a loved one. However, beyond their sorrow song is a message of life, hope, renewal, and peace. It also teaches us that with the loss of one thing, it gives way to the creation of something new. It is, for this reason, that the Mourning Dove can be seen as a symbol of optimism and spirituality.
This feather was found in our yard one morning after our tree had hosted a pair of Mourning Doves for a few weeks.
